Yesterday, Melkweg, Amsterdam. Cool concert! All day I’ve been mumbling “buma in m’n zak, movin’ on up…” and I have no idea what it means.

Yesterday we’ve been to the very cool Berlin nightclub Berghain.

Techno / Electro DJ’s Ricardo Vilalobos and Ulrich Schnauss playing electro-acoustic music, with people laying on the floor instead of dancing. Very special!

But especially the building is fantastic. Very industrial, very Berlin!

We saw Michael Franti & Spearhead yesterday in “Kato” Berlin. Great little concert hall, about one fifth of the Paradiso Amsterdam. So it was an intimate concert. And it was good!

Also one of my first concerts in a concert hall where no smoking was allowed: Michael Franti asked everybody to refrain from smoking. The sweat fumes got more intense every five minutes…

Last week I was in Vienna, at the Kunsthalle Wien. Great exhibition there now about the punk-period in London,  New York and Berlin!

I finally saw one of my great heroes.

His voice has had better days, but it was a fantastic concert!

And the concert Hall, Joy Eslava, is magnificent! An old theater from 1872, with many old details.

Normaal kan ik altijd wel wat negatiefs ontdekken, Nederlander als ik ben. Maar tijdens de evaluatie op de fiets terug konden we echt niks bedenken. Fantastische visuals op een enorm scherm achter de band, Flamengo-dans, en superstrakke muziek. Twee en een half uur topvermaak!

Twee weken geleden alweer op het Amsterdam Dance Event geweest. Niet echt actueel meer, maar één tent waar we geweest zijn wil ik toch wel even wereldkundig maken…

We hadden een VIP-passepartout, dus dachten overal gemakkelijk binnen te kunnen wandelen. Bij Van Gogh-museum, Paradiso en Melkweg stonden echter zulke lange rijen dat we op de gok maar naar een tent zijn gelopen waar we nog nooit van gehoord hadden: Onefourone, op de Overtoom 141.

Ook als ik de site bekijk is het me nog niet helemaal duidelijk wat voor tent het is. Het deed aan als een soort jeugdhonk, met biertjes voor 1,50 euro, en een hoop hiphoppers. Maar ik zie op de site ook Reggae geprogrammeerd…

Er hing een erg goeie sfeer, en de muziek was super! Gaan we zeker vaker heen!

Later op de avond ook nog naar Sven Väth in The Sandd geweest… Ook leuk! “Sjaak Trekhaak” (Whaha!) heeft er een filmpje van gepost.
